Congressman Danny K. Davis on Endorsing La Shawn K. Ford

“After nearly 30 years of representing Illinois’s 7th Congressional District, I have decided not to seek reelection—and with equal parts pride and confidence, I endorse State Representative La Shawn K. Ford as my successor. ​It is my honor, my pleasure, and my delight to endorse you,” Davis said, expressing his firm belief in Ford’s readiness to lead. 

As Congressman Danny K. Davis announces his plans to not run for re-election, he endorses State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford to run instead.

“I see in Representative Ford a young, seasoned public servant who can step in and continue the work—because you don’t have to be old, or have gray hair, to represent.” ​“At this moment, passing the torch to new leadership is not just the right thing—it’s necessary. Representative Ford has the energy, the experience, and the commitment to carry on our shared mission of justice, equity, and service,” Davis added.
